The desktop app

The taxprotecc desktop app works out the tax on your foreign broker account on your own computer. Four screens show what it looks like and what it does.

The images use invented example data (tax year 2025), not real accounts. Every number follows the calculator's rules: 15% of the net ETÜ result of 100,000 Ft is 15,000 Ft.

Overview: the year's tax in one number

Total tax due per year, split into SZJA and SZOCHO. ETÜ, dividends and interest sit on their own cards, together with the SZOCHO cap worked out from your salary.

The Overview screen: total tax due 22,840 Ft, with cards for ETÜ, dividends, interest and the SZOCHO cap
The Overview screen with invented data: total tax due 22,840 Ft.

Trades: one row per sale, with the FIFO matching behind it

Every sale is one row. Open it to see which buys the app matched it with under FIFO, what they cost and how long you held them. In the example, AAPL comes from two buys: 61,200 + 57,100 = 118,300 Ft cost. Amounts are in HUF at the MNB rate of each day.

The Trades list: one sale opened, showing two FIFO-matched buys with HUF cost and holding period
The Trades screen: the AAPL sale opened, with two matched buys.

Import: drop in your statements, the app does the rest

Trading 212 CSV, Revolut statement (CSV, Excel), IBKR and XTB (beta). Drag the files in, and they stay encrypted on your computer only: nothing is uploaded anywhere. It copes with re-saved or slightly changed files, and says which column is missing if something cannot be read.

The Import screen: a drop area for files and a list of three imported files
The Import screen: three imported files, all encrypted in the profile.

Export: a detailed statement for the tax office and your accountant

A PDF and CSV tax statement in one click: summary, every sale with its matched buys, MNB rates, dividend withholding tax and interest. In Hungarian or English.

The Export dialog: choose year, format and language, with the NOT TAX ADVICE warning
