Privacy policy
Effective: 2 November 2026
Who is responsible?
ProgTrs (the developer), Hungary. Contact: info@taxprotecc.eu.
This website and the browser quick check
- The site has no cookies, no tracking and no ads, and loads nothing from outside providers.
- The quick check runs in your browser. The file you pick never leaves your device: we don't upload or store it.
- The site is served by Cloudflare. As with any website, your IP address and browser type may briefly appear in the server's technical logs. Cloudflare handles this under its own privacy policy, and we receive no personal data from it.
- If you write to us, Cloudflare's email forwarding delivers the message to our mailbox. We use your address and message only to reply, and we don't pass them on.
Waiting list
- Data: the email address you send the waiting-list message from, and the consent text pasted into that message. Nothing else.
- Purpose: one notice when the desktop app and payment launch.
- Separate, optional consent: if you tick it, the developer may also write to this address about later projects that may be relevant to you. You can join the launch notice without it. We keep it until you withdraw, then delete it.
- Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). The text in the email documents it.
- How long: for the launch notice until it is sent, at most 30 days after. For the separate consent until you withdraw. Then we delete it.
- Who gets it: nobody. The email reaches our mailbox through Cloudflare email forwarding, and the mailbox is run by Google (Gmail).
- Withdrawal: write to info@taxprotecc.eu and we delete it. This does not affect earlier processing.
The desktop app
What data does it work with, and where is it stored?
- The broker statements you load (Trading 212, Revolut, Interactive Brokers, XTB), your trades, dividends, interest and the calculated tax stay on your computer only, in the
%APPDATA%\TaxOnTradesfolder. - Your profile is encrypted (AES-256-GCM, with a key derived from your password using Argon2id). We don't store your password and can't recover it.
- Your Trading 212 API key and your optional two-step login secret are kept in the encrypted profile; the computer's key is kept in Windows Credential Manager.
- When something goes wrong, the app writes a log file to the same folder. It contains no amounts, account numbers or keys.
- Exported files (CSV, PDF, NAV XML) are saved where you choose.
When does the app go online?
- Hungarian National Bank (MNB): for the official daily exchange rates. It sends only the currency and the dates.
- Eurostat: for the minimum wage figures (used for the social contribution tax cap). No personal data is sent.
- The app's own public list of stock splits. No personal data is sent.
- Trading 212: only if you turn it on. The app then uses your read-only API key to download your account history directly from Trading 212. The data goes to your computer, not to us.
None of these receive your name, email address, trades or amounts.
What we don't do
No usage statistics, no ads, no tracking, and no sharing of data with anyone.
If you install from the Microsoft Store
Microsoft handles the download and updates under its own privacy statement. We have no access to that.
Deleting your data
Delete the %APPDATA%\TaxOnTrades folder. Uninstalling the app deliberately doesn't do this, so a reinstall doesn't lose your profile.
Your rights (GDPR)
Since the data in the app is not held by us, you can see, correct and delete it yourself. If you emailed us, you can ask us to delete that correspondence. For questions, write to the address above. You can complain to the Hungarian data protection authority (NAIH, naih.hu).
Changes
If this policy changes, we publish the new version here with its effective date.
